Emmy Party Diaries: Inside Sunday's Events - Hollywood Reporter

All of the Emmy statuettes have been given out, with Modern Family and Homeland being the big winners of the night. Not only did the ABC and Showtime shows win outstanding comedy and outstanding drama, respectively, but stars Eric Stonestreet and Julie Bowen took home supporting actor and actress nods, while Claire Danes and Damian Lewis received actress and actor in a drama prizes.

TV's biggest stars celebrated after the telecast by attending parties all over town. The Hollywood Reporter was on site at bashes held by Homeland, Modern Family and American Horror Story studio 20th Century Fox Television, the Governor's Ball and the massive HBO event for a minute-by-minute recap of how Hollywood celebrated TV's biggest night.

9 p.m. Homeland's Danes leaves the Nokia thoroughly a back gate, where she quickly snaps a pic of the license plate to her awaiting limo. She's likely headed to Homeland studio 20th Century Fox party at Soleto in downtown.

9:20 p.m. Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane makes his visit to studio 20th's downtown L.A. shindig a quick one. He's spotted heading out while others are filing in.

9:30 p.m. David Arquette tells?Chord Overstreet a story at the Fox party, the Glee star nods along while typing away on his iPhone.

9:30 p.m. At the Governor's Ball, 20th TV chairman Dana Walden doles out hugs as NBC's Bob Greenblatt, Jennifer Salke, Fox 21's Bert Salke and Showtime's Gary Levine chat nearby. "What a night," says Salke, whose Homeland swept.

9:35 p.m. American Horror Story's Ryan Murphy and Emmy winner?Jessica Lange make their way through the party, stopping for a pic with EP Dante DiLoreto. They later?form an informal two-person conga line to wade through the crowded artery from one side of the Fox party to the other.

9:45 p.m. Breaking Bad winner?Aaron Paul is at the center of a gathering of well-wishers. "I can't believe it. I wanted Giancarlo to win," he tells a group at the Governor's Ball. Creator Vince Gilligan and Bryan Cranston chat nearby.

9:49 p.m. Modern Family's Eric Stonesteet, Emmy in hand, makes his way through the Fox party as he thanks the many well-wishers with a swift (and frequent) thank you.

9:53 p.m. Danes keeps cool in the rapidly swelling Fox party near the air conditioned bar where she takes photos with fans before rejoining husband Hugh Dancy and friends.

9:56 p.m. American Horror Story nominee?Connie Britton says she was most excited to see Homeland win, calling their near sweep -- and Jon Cryer's win -- the biggest surprises of the evening.

9:59 p.m. Danes and Dancy break from their conversation with Modern Family's Ty Burrell and connect for the first time since the awards with Danes' mother at the Fox bash, which begins to thin out. They share a very sweet hug.

10 p.m. At the Governor's Ball: Homeland co-creator Alex Gansa?looks at his two Emmys placed on the table: "Can you believe these are mine?" he exclaims, still pinching himself. Also at the table: Showtime's David Nevins and co-creator Howard Gordon, joined by his wife and daughter.

10:25 p.m. Curb Your Enthusiasm husband and wife Jeff Garlin and Susie Essman grab dinner together -- without arguing -- at HBO's annual fete at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood.?

10:30 p.m. At the Governor's Ball: Homeland A huge crowd gathers outside as limos pull up. Jon Stewart, Damian Lewis and the Modern Family clan greet well-wishers, while other nominees --?Mad Men's Christina Hendricks, Downton Abbey's Julian Fellows and 30 Rock's Jack McBrayer --?wait for their cars.

10:30 p.m. Time Warner's Jeff Bewkes poses for photos with Tom Hanks (and his Emmy for Game Change) at the center of the HBO party.

10:40 p.m. Clive Owen posing for a picture with a self-described fan at the HBO party.

10:45 p.m. Entourage reunion at HBO: Adrian Grenier, Jerry Ferrera?and Rex Lee?catch up by the bar, where Lee is overheard asking: "doesn't he look f----in hot?" about an unidentified individual.

10:50 p.m. "If you can't win a statue, look like a statue," Christine Baranski, in gold sparkles, tells Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson as they pose for pics at HBO's bash.

11 p.m. Surprise winner?Jon Cryer poses for pictures with Mel Brooks at HBO party.

11:18 p.m. Scandal's Kerry Washington says presenting at the Emmys is a "piece of cake" after speaking at the DNC. "It put things in perspective," she notes. Her biggest surprise of the night: HBO's Game Change. "I wasnt sure it was going to go that way. I thought maybe Hatfields would sneak in."

11:25 p.m. Amanda Peet lifts her Emmy gown to reveal a pair of black Converse sneakers before greeting 30 Rock's Jack McBrayer.

11:33 p.m. Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito and his daughter chat with Glee's lone nominee,?Dot-Marie Jones.?

11:40 p.m. Sofia Vergara holds court, while her co-star Modern Family Sarah Hyland and her actor boyfriend make the rounds. Viacom's Doug Herzog, A&E Networks' Abbe Raven and Lionsgate's Sandra Stern all mingle.?

11:42 p.m. Once Upon a Time's Ginnifer Goodwin and Elementary's Lucy Liu compare notes at a crowded table in the middle of the HBO party, where it seems everyone has funneled into without the annual Entertainment Tonight bash. Nearby, James Gandolfini congratulates Veep winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The duo take a quick picture together before she resumes a lengthy conversation with her husband.?

12:01 a.m. Danes and her family -- including her parents -- arrive at the HBO party.?

12:02 a.m. Seth MacFarlane and Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke leave the party together. They're spoted earlier in the evening at a table holding hands.?

12:07 a.m. Chloe Sevigny and Natasha Lyonne -- wearing similar short black dresses -- and two other guests hop in the same car as they depart the HBO bash.?

12:10 a.m. Carla Gallo and Sarah Paulson hit the dance floor -- and adjust Amanda Peet's blazer by the macaroon table.?

12:20 a.m. Esposito, flanked by reporters, tells THR?that "the best man won" when his co-star Aaron Paul's?won in the supporting actor category. After the newly minted two-time winner's name was called, Esposito recounts that Paul's feet were "stuck to the floor" and he had to tell him, "Go up there and get it!"?

12:27 a.m. Justified Emmy winner Jeremy Davies pauses for a pic with 30 Rock's Jack McBrayer. The former Lost co-star is having a field day taking photos with fans as his friend, musician Lissie, takes it all in.?

12:30 a.m.?McBrayer gives the considerably taller Alexander Skarsgard a hug on his way out.

12:35 a.m. The Big Bang Theory's Johnny Galecki says he was swapping text messages with co-star and comedy actor nominee Jim Parsons early Sunday that both "had a feeling" this was Big Bang's year to win the series prize. "The Roseanne show was No. 1 for five years and was never nominated," he tells THR of BBT's shutout Sunday. Small steps, he says.

12:42 a.m. The New Normal star Andrew Rannells -- who had an arc on HBO's Girls -- chats up American Horror Story nominee Denis O'Hare.?

12:50 a.m. Modern Family's Sofia Vergara dances to Gloria Estefan's "Conga" at the DJ booth in front of an enamored crowd furiously posting photos to Instagram.
