How to Fix Windows XP's Slow Shutdown

Has it happened to you that you shutdown your Windows XP but it was taking hours for it to happen? Do you even remember how much time it used to take your computer to shut itself sown? Well, this also happened to many more people. It is one of Windows XP known issues. The source of the problem is coming from the registry.

The Windows registry is where Windows stores all of its important and critical keys and data. Every change to the registry can impact the computers performance and this is probably what caused your Windows XP to shutdown slow. Now, you probably ask yourself when was the last time you touched the registry (probably never). Changes to the registry doesn?t occur by us the users of the computer, they occur when installing and uninstalling software on the computer. These processes makes modifications to some registry entries so Windows will recognize the changes that were made in the system.

How to fix those entries?

Fixing the registry can be done in two ways, the manual way or the automatic way:

The Manual Way ? Press Start->Run->regedit and Enter. The regedit console will open and all the modifications to the registry happens here. When dealing with the registry you need to be very careful because any little mistake can impact your computer performance or even stop it from working. So, if you are not a computer expert, I really recommend you not to deal with the registry.

The Automatic Way ? This is the safest and most reliable way to deal with registry problems. Run a registry cleaner on your computer and it will automatically fix any registry error on invalid entries with a quick scan.

This will probably solve every PC error you had and will make computer to run faster.

So to fix Windows XP?s slow shutdown process you just need a registry cleaner. There are lots of software out there, be careful with the one you take, some of them are so worse they can cause more damage to your computer than it had before.
